Why our shop is named Professore Rambaldi? Who is Rambaldi? Now I’m telling you the whole story of the origin of this name.
It was when I was staying in Napoli, to order the very first collection for my shop. At the time I even did not have the name for my shop, and was thinking how to start the collection.
I stayed in a B&B on the seaside of Napoli, where I found my self very comfortable, surrounded by very beautiful neo-classic style antique furnitures, Neapolitan baroque paintings, and typical Neapolitan yellow walls.
I really liked the phenomenon and stayed long time in a shared living room.
However there was something unusual; that is, the living room was something like a great study room for someone.
The owner was called Signora Rambaldi. She told me that B&B had been a private house of her husband who passed away almost 10 years ago.
Her husband was called Mario Rambaldi, who was a great doctor and professor of a Neapolitan medical university.
She and I talked a lot, I believe it was more than one hour. I told that I was opening my own shop very soon, specially for true handmade clothes from Sartoria Napoletana.
It was fair surprising that we talked about very detailed things of Sartoria Napoletana, such as Vincenzo Attolini and his sons.
After the longest talk, she took me to her private room where there was a wardrobe. Yes, the wardrobe was full of vintage bespoke suits, made by legendary tailor Ugo Massa.
She explained me that her husband was a well-dressed man of only bespoke suits and jackets. He ordered plenty of clothes at Vincenzo Attolini and at this Ugo Massa.
She told me to try a jacket. I took one of them and tried, to find it was fitting perfectly on me. After having seen the fitting, Signora Rambaldi told me.
“You know the worth. They are all yours.”
Thus, I send them all those about 25 suits to Japan. While I was packing the suits to boxes, I carefully looked all the jackets and suits. I could see the elegant style that Signor Rambaldi had through them, which at least for me seemed to be awaiting for me to restore.
I ran out from the room, called Signora Rambaldi and asked her to give me the name Professore Rambaldi for my shop, where I would revive his elegance.
In this way, my shop was named after the great professor who truly loved Sartoria Napoletana.
Professore Rambaldi – Bespoke & Experiences in honor of his elegance.
